The Lord is Mightier…

By Chaplain George Nix

“The LORD on high is mightier Than the noise of many waters, Than the mighty waves of the sea.”

– Psalm 93:4

Have you ever stood near a mighty rushing river or a majestic waterfall? On a beach vacation, did you fall asleep with the window open, listening to the waves crashing into the shore?   Last March, my wife and I went to beautiful Helen, GA for our anniversary. We stood at the banks of the Chattahoochee River, watching the mighty flow of the water. I told my wife that if nothing else happens this weekend, it was worth it all to experience this mighty display of God’s power. Sometimes, waters will overflow their banks, causing a flood…

Psalm 93 starts out in the throne room of God:  “The LORD reigns, He is clothed with majesty; The LORD is clothed, He has girded Himself with strength. Surely the world is established, so that it cannot be moved.” (Psalm 93:1)

Then, the floods came:  “The floods have lifted up, O LORD, The floods have lifted up their voice; The floods lift up their waves.” (Psalm 93:3)

Sometimes we can be overwhelmed by the floods of life: fear, anxiety, worry…

The psalmist reminds us that God is mightier than ANY flood that comes our way. Strengthen your faith in this:  “The LORD on high is mightier Than the noise of many waters, Than the mighty waves of the sea.” (Psalm 93:4)
