A General Prayer and Supplication
By Dave Lescalleet, Director of Chaplaincy
Almighty and eternal God, we adore You as the God and Father of your people. You created us in Your own image and redeemed us with the precious blood of Your Son. By Your Spirit You sanctified us and called us out of darkness and into your marvelous light.
Grant that we may, with thankful hearts receive your great mercies and express our gratitude, not only with our lips but also in our lives as we give ourselves to You and walk before You in holiness and righteousness all our days.
It is always good and right to be people of prayer. But on this day, we take time to especially lift before you those who are sick and suffering, and for all who are in need.
Since you, O God, are with us, nothing that has happened and nothing still to come, can rob us of our hope in Christ. Sustain us, we beg you, during this time of uncertainty.
Grant swift recovery to those who are affected and comfort to their families and loved ones. Encourage those who are afraid.
Amid mental, emotional and physical suffering, may all people find consolation in your healing presence. Show your mercy as you close wounds, cure illness, make broken bodies whole and free downcast souls. May those who are suffering at this time find lasting health and deliverance, and so join us in glorifying you for all your gifts.
We make this prayer in the name of God the Father, God your Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Amen
Amen.
